I went grocery shopping at Bloomingfoods! I'm in love!
What I got:
  • 2 containers of vanilla ricemilk ($1.79 each, so cheap!)
  • 1 vegan burrito
  • 2 lara bars and 2 chocolate bars for my roomie's birthday
  • 2 organic ramen noodle packages
  • oats
  • blueberry granola w/ flaxseed
  • trail mix
  • peanut butter that I ground myself (cool!)
  • 2 organic Stoneyfield's yogurts (no Silk soy yogurt and this one was cheap)
  • raw Blue Agave sweetener (no more splenda, yay!)

All for $23! I feel thrifty. :) It won't last me long, but at least I have some delicious, healthy, and mostly vegan food to sustain me when I can't eat at the dining hall. I also found out through studying vegan health websites that I don't think I'm going to have a hard time at all getting enough nutrients such as iron, vitamin B12, calcium, and protein.

Today's food:
(slept through breakfast!)
Lunch-taco with beans, lettuce, salsa, and onions; beans and rice; salad; few bites of blackberry cobler (not vegan)
Snack-apple w/ peanut butter; granola
Dinner- organic vegan ramen

First Blog!

This is my first blogspot blog, but I've had a few Xanga blogs before. They weren't that great! Hopefully this one will turn out better, especially since I plan on posting a lot more often. I love how easy blogspot is to use!

I was a vegetarian for almost 4 years and a vegan for 2+8 months (2 different times). I decided the night before last that I am FOR SURE going vegetarian again. I was reading accounts of animal abuse, describing them to my boyfriend, and thinking about how awful I've been for not even caring about eating meat for the past several months! I was bawling my eyes out. Reading about the animal abuse and thinking about how our bodies are NOT meant to eat meat manifested the fact that eating meat is completely against my moral values and intuition.
Veganism is my ultimate goal. I quit being vegan after 8 months last time because I was getting really sick. Tired (as in extremely lethargic), pale, and underweight. I wasn't watching what I ate closely enough so I wasn't getting the nutrition I needed. Now that I am completely out of groceries I am going to go to Bloomingfoods (natural food co-op) and get some delicious vegan food! I am a poor college student though, so when I can get free or super cheap nonvegan foods then I will.
It's easy to be veg here! I live in a hippie/druggie/weirdo living learning center on campus that has several vegans. Our dining hall always provides vegan foods. I was a little scared about trying to limit my animal products, but I've been studying up for two days now and it sounds awesome!!!
I've also been studying "clean eating". I want to stop eating all of the processed shit that I eat. I want to be clean and healthy! I also want to recover from the eating disorder I am currently suffering from. I think being a conscientious, healthy eater will help!
If anyone out there has some great vegan tips shoot them at me!
